GETTING THERE

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

If your up for the challenge why not use Cumbria’s infamous public transport system… well, at least the views are nice.

  1. Get the train to PENRITH
  2. If it’s FRIDAY, you’re in luck, you can get the 106 bus to nearby Shap, about 2 miles from the site. (The bus only runs on Tuesdays and Fridays, so don’t ask us how you get back). If it’s Saturday, that’s about as close as you can get, which is 13 miles away…
  3. Maybe another Picnicker will give you a lift instead? You can use our Facebook page to organise lifts with each other. Post a comment under our pinned post and other Withnailers will spot your request. Alternatively, reply to someone else’s comment offering a lift!
  4. If, by some miracle, you do manage to turn up to this event without a car, head up to The Stopped Clock (our bar) for a beer on us.

DRIVING
From the M6 take junction 39 signed Shap and Kendal. From junction exit follow signs to Shap. You will reach a T Junction, turn right towards Shap then take first left signed Wet Sleddale. From there follow the road. You will pass crossroads of farm roads then come to a sharp right turn. Take the right turn. Keep following this single track road, you will pass a farm house on your left, stay right on the road until you reach the parking area. There will be picnic cinema signs to help you along the way. PLEASE SHUT GATES AS YOU PASS.

Why don’t you post any potential spare seats on Facebook? We are (attempting) to be an environmentally aware company, so the less cars coming the better really! (Except, obviously, you are going to struggle to get there via public transport, as explained above).
