GETTING THERE

Appleby Castle is located in the centre of Appleby in Westmoreland on Boroughgate at the top of the hill in Eden in Cumbria, just off the A66. Full address and postcode: Appleby Castle, Boroughgate, Appleby in Westmoreland, Cumbria, CA16 6XH.

From the East:

From A66 take the Appleby turn off on to the B6542 signed Appleby and Orton. Continue on this road and then turn left onto Bridge Street, signed Tourist Information and Orton. The Castle is at the top of the hill.

From the West:

From A66 take the Appleby turn off to the B6542 signed Appleby and Orton. Continue to follow the signs to Appleby. Then as you approach centre of Appleby turn right onto Bridge Street signed Tourist Information and Orton. The Castle is at the top of the hill.

Essential items to bring…
A TORCH – its dark out there
A CHAIR – we do not provide seating
WARM CLOTHES – even if its 30 degrees in the day it will get cold at night. Wrap up warm
WET WEATHER GEAR – we hope it won’t but it might rain
FOOD – bring snacks, food and breakfast!
DRINK – you can bring your own (no glass) and there will also be a bar
TENT – and all that goes with camping overnight
SENSIBLE SHOES – the ground is uneven and steep in places

HOUSE RULES

Please leave the site by 11am the next day.
No camper vans or motorhomes will be allowed on to the site – tents only.
No cars can be parked in camping area, be prepared to walk with your camping gear.
Please help to keep the site clean and tidy and use the designated bins and take as much rubbish home with you as possible.
No open fires allowed.
BBQ’s are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground.
The camping area has limited space. Please do not bring large gazebos, marquees or other large structures.
Respect that everyone goes to bed at different times and keep noise down after 1am.
Please respect that this is a private residence and we would like to hold events there again.
You may not have mobile phone signal there.
Parking is in designated areas only.
